Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia, Italy...a luxury Mediterranean resort area

Every once in a while I come up with something that benefits you, my readers and friends. Today is one of those times…

I’m going to help you get rid of your mom for Mother’s Day!

Mothers…calm down! Read the rest before sending me hate email!

I know, I know…other articles on JuicyMaters benefit you. Articles in the In the Kitchen category will help you decide what odd kitchen tools you absolutely HAVE to have (mortar and pestle, anyone?) along with some recipes that will make you gain weight at a rapid rate. Family Homesteading will (hopefully) provide helpful information on leading a more self-sufficient lifestyle, and you can wander over to Yurt Yak and learn everything you ever wanted to know about yurt living, yurt manufacturer selection, and yurt construction.

Then there is the category you are reading now, Eureka Moments, that I self-describe as the mental ramblings of a dumb redneck boiled peanut salesman. ‘Nuff said, right?

Anyway, I’m a member of a group called SeededBuzz, A bunch of bloggers that blog about each other’s blogs, promote each other’s blog posts, tell each other what great writers we are, slap each other on the back (virtually, of course), and generally try to support each other’s pitiable self-esteem as bloggers.

Pathetic, eh?

So…this morning I get an email from SeededBuzz about a contest they are publicizing to get rid of your mom on Mother’s Day…but don’t worry moms of the world, the contest only gets rid of you for a weekend.

The contest is to win an all-expense paid trip to Sardinia, Italy for the winning mom and a traveling companion of her choice, with lodging at the Faro di Capo Spartivento, a top rated hotel by TripAdvisor (Actually, the airfare and hotel transfers are included. I’m not sure about meals. So sue me.)

To enter, go to Charming Sardinia to register. Do it quick…the entry period is from April 27, 2011 thru May 5, 2011 at 12:00PM CET (Central European Time*). The actual trip will be for the weekend AFTER Mother’s day, so I hope your mom’s passport is all up to date already.

Now, since I’m sharing this with you, you are asking, “What’s in it for Bob? He must want SOMETHING!”

You are right, I do. Two things, actually.

First, while you CAN tell your friends about the contest and send them directly to the website where you register, I’d appreciate it if you would send them here instead, and make them find it by reading this post, just like you did. Think of it as a scavenger hunt…LOL.

When your friends come here first, it helps folks find this site and become regular readers, something that gets me excited and causes me to do backflips and turn cartwheels…and I need the exercise.

Second, see that comment box at the bottom of posts? Y’all have been a bit slack in using it…so use it! Tell me why the site rocks, or sucks (but if you say it sucks, tell me why so I can make it better), or just drop a comment saying”Hi”. Comments get me excited and make my do backflips and turn cartwheels…and I need the exercise. Oh…wait…I already said that…

Y’all come back now, ya hear?

* CET is, I THINK, GMT+2, while eastern time in the US is GMT-4, so the close of entries is 6:00AM EST on May 25. I think. I hope. Enter early, just in case I don’t know what I’m talking about…a distinct possibility..

  1. The title of your post got my attention. Can ya sign up wives for the contest?

  2. Sign ‘er up hansi…but who’s she gonna take? The pool boy?

BTW…titles are SUPPOSED to do that. Glad it worked!

  3. I think I’ll just sign myself up. I’m a mother plus the babysitter of two grandchildren. I’m tired and would love a weekend in Italy. Who cares whether meals are included – not me!

  4. Git ’em roz…I’d love for one of the JuicyMaters regulars to win. Heck…I can get 3-4 blog posts out of bragging about that! LOL…

  5. Just dropped by to thank you very much for participating in my latest Limerick-Off challenge. I hope you’ll become a regular. 🙂 I post a new one every Sunday or Monday. Thanks!

  6. Thanks for stopping by Madeleine. I found your site over at the Mad Dr D’s site and I’ll probably become a regular.

  7. have you entered any one special yet?
i think i will make several for my sister, my mom, uhhhh, my other sister…lol, maybe even one for me.(no angry face please)

  8. Hi jen. Actually I was thinking of changing my name to Roberta and entering myself..Sardinia would be nice this time of year…LOL.

    Actually, I entered my GF.

I couldn’t get the software to change just your gravitar (don’t know why it insists on giving you an angry face every time) so I changed the whole Gravitar set to something neutral, just for you. Enjoy.

  9. Bob,
    My mother is dead.

  10. Mine too Ralph. I look at Mother’s Day as a time for me to celebrate mothers in general, not necessarily MY mother.
