Hi folks! I hope everyone had as good a Thanksgiving as me and are looking forward to a great celebration of Christ’s birth! I’m expecting a great Christmas and New Year and hope y’all are too!
I’ve got a secret as to what is going to make New Years so fantastic here at JuicyMaters, and I’ll share that with you in the next couple of weeks, but right now I want to talk to the folks who visit JuicyMaters to get information about yurts.
Are you beyond just interested in yurts? Do you KNOW you want to own and live in a yurt…almost? Are you ready to order your Pacific Yurt…almost? Are you going to call your local building supply house and order the materials for the platform…almost?
In other words, are you like I was in the first quarter of 2009…99.9% ready to take the plunge and become a yurt-er, but needing just a little more “push” to get me to make the call to Pacific Yurts and place an order? I simply could not bring myself to make the final decision to actually do it based on a nice website and some pretty pictures. I needed to SEE a Pacific Yurt, TOUCH a Pacific Yurt…and it would have been nice to have been able to experience LIVING in a Pacific Yurt before making the final decision. I was able to drive 100 miles to see one, and made the decision based on that 30 minute look-see…but living in one for a time would have been better.
That is what I am offering to a family that is where I was…almost-but-not-quite-ready to become yurters…the chance to live in a yurt for a time to see if it fits with their desired lifestyle changes without making a long term commitment.
Here’s the deal:
I am going to be adding a second and third connected yurt to my current 30′ foot Pacific Yurts yurt. While I could easily live in my yurt as the additional yurts were set up since all of the work (except a couple of hours to connect them) is done outside the existing yurt and would not have much effect on living here during construction, I will be living about 25 minutes away for about 4-6 months, including during the adding of the extra yurts to the existing one. That is where someone can get the yurt experience AND see how to set one up without having to commit to the yurt life all at once with no turning back.
I plan to pick one family or individual who is almost-but-not-quite-there on yurt living, and wants a hands on experience of yurt living to help them decide, and provide an all around “yurt primer course” on construction and living in a yurt.
The selected folks will live in my 30′ Pacific Yurt, which is set up with a large room that encompasses roughly 75% of the yurt and has a kitchen, sleeping area, and living area, and the bathroom/laundry that takes up slightly less than 25% of the yurt and has a large custom shower stall and a washer/dryer, in addition to the toilet and sink. The yurt will be fully furnished, including dishes and flatware…just bring clothes, bed linen, towels, and food… as well as a television set (think vacation condo) and will include electricity, an internet connection, and Dish Network for those still hooked on the TV (I must admit, that includes me…gotta have my FoxNews…lol).
This will essentially be a 24/7, 4-6 month yurt construction and living hands on seminar, giving someone the chance to try yurts out before taking the plunge.
If you are interested in participating in this, email me at [email protected] and “Yurt Living!” in the subject line. I will send you information on the details of how I can give you a taste of yurt construction and living without your having to make the commitment of buying one.
